Street Work

Youth Work based around town centres, villages and other places where young people meet. Youth Workers spend time getting to know young people helping them with specific issues or problems they may be facing and accessing further support and opportunities.

Prison! No Way!

This innovative programme offers young people who are at risk of offending an opportunity to see how the other side of the law operates. This programme includes visits to courts, prisons and Police Stations. Prison! No Way! Is delivered in partnership with HMP Chelmsford, Essex Police, Essex Magistrates and the Prince’s Trust.

Information Points

The Youth Service working other agencies, brings young people the opportunity to access relevant up to date information on a whole range of subjects though Information Points in all clubs and projects.

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Young people undertake the challenge of Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards. Each Award involves the participation and successful completion of service, expedition, physical recreation and skills elements.

Alternative Education - Year 11 Scheme

This scheme offers year 11 students who are not succeeding in school the chance to gain qualifications, increase their social skills and take part in work experience.

Youth Action

Young people are involved in a range of initiatives such as young people’s forums where they can express their views and be heard. Young People volunteer to work with their local communities. They can use this experience to gain accreditation in form of Youth Action certificates.

Young Essex Assembly

The Young Essex Assembly will be an elected voice of young people in Essex and echo the County Council with up to 79 members. Each member of the YEA will hold a portfolio of specific areas of responsibility including a commitment to support their local Youth Forum. The YEA will meet in the County Council Chambers three times per year and in their sub groups monthly. Elected representatives from the YEA will be the UK Youth Parliament members.
