The Assembly's slogan is "Have Your Say with The TYA". With the TYA, young people's views and issues are what matter to us most as we need to know what young people want
The TYA is supported by Tendring District Council and co-ordinated by an officer of the Council, however, all decisions are made by the young people including the agenda and which guests are invited to the meetings.
They discuss current issues in their area and by working with Council officers and Members they can try to solve problems experienced by young residents and help to bring about change.
The TYA used to be called the Tendring Youth Forum until April 2005 when the group decided to change the name to reflect that they make decisions and did not just discuss the issues.
Members are elected on to the TYA from recognised groups such as schools, ESTConnexions and youth centres. Anyone who is aged 12 to 19 and lives in Tendring can ask to apply. All they need to do is be nominated by their peers, fill in a form to explain why they want to join the TYA and the TYA will elect the appropriate applicant.
