traffic outside schools

hiya its ben latley i have a growig concern about traffic out side coppins green and clacton county high school. it is mainly down to people parking in the wrong places but does ayone have any suggestions of who to contact or what to do thanks Ben |

Hi Ben, Glad to see you using it at last lol I would contact the schools first, specifically the head teachers, and see if they can encourage the parents and other users to park in more sensible places to avoid congestion. At the end of the day, it is a council matter if there are congestion problems on council streets but it is always better to approach the schools themselves first. If all else fails, contact the council itself and approach the Cllr in charge of Highways. (Is this correct Jo?) Hope this helps Ben. See you soon Danny |

Ben Danny gave you the correct advice. Contact your school first, see what measures they have in place to reduce congestion and improve road safety outside their school. I'm not sure how strong your school council is but you may want to raise this with them so that they can take it forward for you. As you know a group of unified voices is better a lone one. Also by 2010 all schools should have something called a school travel plan which 'identifies and seeks to solve problems associated with the school journey, and sets out a school's objectives and targets to improve safety, increase sustainable travel and reduce car use'. (I took that from Essex County Council's website.)
